We believe that collaboration saves lives. Atlanta Humane partners with shelters, rescues, and animal welfare organizations across Georgia and the Southeast to expand lifesaving capacity through transport, training, supplies, grant funding, and shared resources. Together, we build stronger systems of care and create more positive outcomes for animals.
Programs and Services Offered
Capitol Improvement Grant Program
Overview
Our Capital Improvement Grant Program provides funding for Georgia-based shelters to improve their facilities in alignment with the ASV Guidelines. These projects create healthier, safer environments for animals and the people who care for them.
Who It Serves
Animal welfare organizations and shelters located in the state of Georgia with infrastructure needs tied to improving animal care.
How to Access
The most recent grant cycle is now closed. Updates will be posted here when future funding becomes available.
How to Support
This program is funded through a dedicated grant from the Rachael Ray Foundation. While public donations do not fund this initiative directly, your support of Atlanta Humane helps sustain our broader efforts to strengthen animal welfare partnerships across the state.
Food and Supply Support

Thanks to generous community donations and our partnership with Greater Good Charities, we distribute pet food and supplies to shelters, rescues, and community organizations—helping them care for more animals with fewer financial barriers.

We are always looking for donated pet food (especially small, lightweight bags) and pet supplies. You can drop off donations at our Atlanta location at 1551 Perry Boulevard or purchase one of our most-in need items directly from our Amazon Wish List to have it shipped to us.

Dogs for Better Lives
Overview
We partner with Dogs for Better Lives to identify shelter dogs with the potential to become life-changing assistance animals. Dogs selected for the program begin their journey at our Marietta location, where a dedicated training space designed to feel like a home helps them adjust to a real-world environment. This partnership opens new doors for dogs with the right temperament and energy to serve people in need with purpose and confidence.
Who It Serves
People in need of professionally trained assistance or therapy dogs.
Fostering a dog in the program provides critical early care and socialization, helping prepare them for their future role.
