Penelope’s mom was doing everything she could to keep her cat safe.

After being evicted in Delaware, she moved to Atlanta in search of stability. But things quickly unraveled. Her new housing situation fell apart, her car was stolen, and she ended up living in a rental car while Penelope was left behind in an unsafe environment.

Worried for Penelope’s safety, she reached out to us.

Through our Pets in Crisis Support program, Penelope was placed in a loving foster home where she could be cared for while her mom worked to rebuild. We were also able to contribute towards her rental car payments, giving Penelope’s mom one less thing to worry about.

Today, Penelope’s mom is living in secure housing, and the two have been reunited. With the support she received, her mom was able to focus on rebuilding her life without having to say goodbye to the pet she loves most.

This kind of support is only possible because fosters step up when it matters most. If you have space in your home, you can help a pet stay safe while their family gets through a tough time.

Update as of Friday, May 30:

This week, Rupert underwent surgery to amputate his deformed front leg. The procedure was a success with no complications, and he is now back in his foster home where he’s recovering comfortably. Rupert is getting plenty of rest, love, and snuggles as he continues to heal.

Rupert is only eight weeks old, but he has already been through a lot. He came to the Atlanta Humane Society with a deformity in his right front leg. In his first few days here, he went through exams, x-rays, and pain management while our team worked to understand what kind of care he would need.

Rupert is now staying in a foster home where he can rest and feel safe. A veterinary specialist will be evaluating his leg soon. Surgery may be part of his treatment plan depending on what they find.

Right now, Rupert is surrounded by people who are making sure he is comfortable and cared for. We will continue to support him every step of the way and give him the best care possible.

We will post updates here as Rupert’s journey continues.

Just a few weeks ago, Parker, Piper, and Phoebe were left in a cardboard box outside our doors. Today, they are safe, healthy, and settling into loving homes. Their transformation was only made possible through the support of a compassionate community that believes in giving animals the second chances they deserve.

Puppy Hero

At just 7 weeks old and barely 6 pounds each, Parker, Piper, and Phoebe were abandoned in a cardboard box outside our doors.

But these vulnerable puppies didn’t stay scared and alone for long. We rushed them inside, gave them the care they needed, and promised them safety.

This is what we do every single day for our community’s animals. And right now, your support means more than ever. This is your last chance to give while your gift goes three times as far.

Our special 3x match is only in place for a limited time. Right now, every gift helps us rescue, heal, and protect three times as many animals. Animals like Parker, Piper, and Phoebe. But this opportunity ends on Wednesday, April 30th.

Every moment matters for animals who have no one else. When these puppies were left behind, we knew we could promise them safety because you would help us support them.

Your support helps us say “yes” when others say “no.” We cannot do it without you.

Alone and vulnerable, these tiny kittens were discovered among trash, far too young to survive on their own. With no sign of their mother, Fred and Ginger were rescued just in time.

Now, they are being bottle-fed and cared for around the clock as they fight to grow stronger every day. It is a demanding process:

– The emotional weight of seeing animals in such vulnerable states.
– The physical exhaustion of feeding through the night.
– The financial strain of providing critical medical care, formula, and supplies.

It adds up quickly. But for a limited time, every gift will be triple-matched. That means more formula, more medical care, and more lifesaving support for Fred, Ginger, and so many other animals in need.

Please, give now while your gift goes three times as far and help give these kittens the second chance they deserve.

Fred and Ginger are just beginning their journey. With your help, they will grow strong, find loving homes, and get the second chance every animal deserves.

At Atlanta Humane, we believe no one should have to give up their pet just because they’re going through a hard time. Our Pets in Crisis Support program is designed to help people facing housing instability, medical emergencies, and other major challenges keep their pets safe while they work toward stability.

Coyote’s mom was living in a sober living facility that didn’t allow pets and her little dog, Coyote, didn’t have a safe place to stay.

Coyote PICS

Because a foster stepped up, we were able to bring Coyote into the Pets in Crisis Support program. We updated his vaccines and placed him in a safe and caring foster home. With Coyote off the streets and in good hands, his mom was able to focus on her next steps.

We’re happy to share that she’s since secured pet-friendly housing and has been reunited with Coyote.

This outcome was only possible because someone chose to foster.

Fosters make this program work. If you have a little extra space and time, you can help a pet stay safe while their family gets through a tough season.

To learn more about this program and how to get involved, visit the Pets in Crisis Support page.
