Community
We’re proudly invested in Atlanta. Our history runs deep in this city, and throughout our history, our community has joined us in advocating for the most vulnerable animals. We’ve created an incredible foundation built upon compassion, but we’re only just beginning. The needs of our community’s animals are changing, and we’re investing in being ready for this change by expanding our programs to include pet owners. In 2020, we changed the way we operated by providing more resources for pet owners who needed assistance in caring for their pet. We provided 9,431 pets with food and cared for 2,229 pets in our affordable vet clinic. With our new Atlanta Animal Center, our Community Outreach Team will have space to grow and learn more about our community and provide assistance for even more of Atlanta’s pet owners.
We are actively engaged in learning about our future neighborhood by attending the Westside Future Fund Summit meetings and NPU meetings. We’re instigating research focused on the needs of the Westside community to better inform our neighborhood outreach and engagement in our new neighborhood. Our President and CEO, Cal Morgan, met with Councilman Dustin Hillis, who is serving his first term representing the citizens of District 9 in Northwest Atlanta, to discuss the new Atlanta Animal Center and discuss ways the Atlanta Humane Society can engage residents of the region.
