Our Vision for the Future
Over the past 7 years, we have tackled significant challenges facing homeless animals across Georgia, supported our most vulnerable pet owners during the pandemic, and grown our support of other animal welfare organizations. As the efforts of adoption, spay and neuter, and transport have helped our organization and the animal welfare community reduce overpopulation, we are faced with an exciting and challenging question: How do we continue to reduce overpopulation and serve the newly exposed and more complex problems of under-resourced pets and their caregivers, a lack of accessible and affordable veterinary care, and slowly moving systems of change within the animal welfare field?
As we move forward as a leader in the field of caring for animals, we are committed to evolving the way we serve our community, both here in Atlanta and across the Southeast. At the beginning and end of each day, we are driven to make a difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them. We will build on our long history of attentive and compassionate service to ensure more pets can get access to the resources they need.
Our goal is clear and deeply motivated by our desire to keep pets in their loving homes: We seek to improve the lives and well-being of pets and people, collectively and perhaps most importantly, one life, one need, one animal at a time.

- Keep More Pets in Loving Homes
We’ll always be there to support Atlanta’s homeless animals, but more than ever before, animals who have families are in need. Our Community Outreach Team is proactively working to keep pets in homes by providing pet food to partners like Meals on Wheels. Our veterinary clinic, Remedy: Your Community Vet, is providing affordable veterinary care near the East Lake community where no other veterinary centers exist. And our Resource Center is providing pet tips and connecting our community to partner resources, like Paws Between Homes, to help give those faced with surrendering their beloved pet other options to keep their pet with their family, where they’re loved.
- Make Veterinary Care Accessible and Affordable
Remedy, our affordable veterinary clinic, is actively looking at ways to grow across the region to provide more access to veterinary care where it’s needed the most. They offer preventative services, including vaccines, annual exams, spay and neuter surgeries, and microchips, and can provide clients with dental surgeries, heartworm treatment, and diagnostic services when needed. By keeping pets healthy, we’re able to support long-lasting and loving relationships between pets and the people who love them.
- Improve the Health and Wellbeing of All Animals
As the needs of our community change, we’re committed to adapting so we can continue to be there for Atlanta’s animals. As we celebrate 150 years of serving Atlanta, our focus is set on expanding how we support Atlanta’s pet owners and how we utilize our leadership to impact animals throughout the Southeast. Our Community Outreach Team has already begun this work by engaging with partner shelters throughout the state and providing them with resources to save more lives. Through a restricted grant from a generous donor, they’re able to provide capital funds to other shelters to build kennels that increase capacity, lay new floors to prevent disease spread, and provide transport vans—all to increase the number of animal lives saved in our state.
