Tiny, helpless Lucille was found wandering the streets alone, shivering from fear and cold. With temperatures dropping, there was no shelter or safety to be found. And poor Lucille, suffering from a severe case of mange, had no fur to keep her warm. She had no one, and she needed a miracle.
As soon as the Atlanta Humane Society heard about Lucille’s plight, we dropped everything to go to her rescue. Here, safe and warm for the first time in her life, she curled up in her bed and peered up at us. It was heartbreaking to see the pain in her eyes. She was so tired from fighting to survive. Lucille was safe at last — but she faced a long road to recovery.
Finally, after nearly two months of expert medical care and a loving foster home, Lucille’s skin was healed, and she grew a beautiful brindle coat. She looked — and felt — like a whole new dog.
So many animals like Lucille need medical help to survive and live healthier, happier lives. And countless more need rescuing from heartbreaking situations.
