When Melonie was brought to the Atlanta Humane Society, we immediately knew we had to help. She had a growth the size of a cantaloupe hanging from her left side, and she was so scared.

Melonie

Our Shelter Medicine Team immediately took x-rays and could see that sweet Melonie’s growth was the largest hernia they had ever seen. Little Melonie didn’t have any muscle mass on that side of her body, so her internal organs were growing on the outside. This condition needed immediate correction, so our doctors went to work. They spent hours working to correct the hernia, and the surgery was a success.

Melonie

Melonie still has a lot of recovering to do, and she actually has a second, less severe hernia that still needs to be corrected. We took her to see a specialist, and now she’s learning to live as a normal dog again in a loving AHS foster home.

Because of your support, each animal who enters our facility receives the specialized, lifesaving care he or she needs.

Please consider a lifesaving gift today.

We can notify you the next time a we have a dog like Melonie available for adoption. Visit our Pet Alert page.
