Lanier was diagnosed with parvovirus, which can be extremely deadly in puppies, and we weren’t sure she was going to make it through the day. Her gums were completely white, she couldn’t lift her head, and she wouldn’t eat.
Our Shelter Medicine Team administered IV fluids, pain medication, nausea medication, and monitored her all day. Miraculously, she made it through the day and went on to receive emergency medical treatment at a specialist hospital, which was extremely costly.
After over a week of intensive treatment, fluids, and specialized care, Lanier tested negative for parvovirus! Now, she’s a happy, healthy puppy.
