Your new best friend awaits!

The Atlanta Humane Society and IKEA Atlanta are partnering to help create a future free of homeless animals and provide shelter for dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens who are waiting for families of their own. Visit the IKEA in Atlanta, GA to see our displays and envision one (or more!) of our overlooked, homeless animals in your own home. Each of these individual cats and dogs has their own personality and story, and they are all ready for a loving family of their own. As a no-kill shelter, we’re dedicated to finding forever families for all of the dogs and cats in our care, regardless of their needs. The Atlanta Humane Society and IKEA hope that you’ll consider adopting one of our wonderful, overlooked animals!

Prior to being adopted, all of our adoptable pets receive:

  • A healthy pet examination from our Shelter Medicine Team including a personalized medical assessment and treatment plan if needed
  • A behavior evaluation as well as enrichment and training while in our care
  • All age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming
  • Our dogs and puppies all receive regular flea, tick, and heartworm protection while in our care, and our cats and kittens receive regular flea and tick preventative
  • A microchip

You can learn more about how to adopt a pet during this time here.

Our adoptable pets all go home with:

  • A great pet insurance offer from our friends at MetLife
  • A Healthy Start Certificate at VCA Animal Hospitals towards an initial exam and health guarantee within 10 days of adoption
  • A four-pound bag of pet food from Purina

Some of our animals qualify for our Foster First Program:

Our Foster First Program gives you the opportunity to take an animal home for up to 14 days before deciding if they are the perfect fit for you and your family. Throughout this time, you’ll have the full support of our Foster and Adoption Teams in case you have any questions along the way. View the animals who qualify by visiting atlantahumane.org/adopt/foster-first.
