We weren’t expecting her, but we welcomed her with open arms. A good Samaritan found Dixie locked up in a tiny kennel filled with feces and urine- she had likely been there for weeks and was desperate for human attention.
The kind gentleman who found Dixie realized that a puppy was more than he could handle and brought her to the Atlanta Humane Society for assistance. As soon as Dixie saw us, her entire body wiggled from excitement- she was finally going to receive the love and care she had never received before.
After an examination, we realized that Dixie is almost completely deaf, and our hearts broke thinking about this tiny puppy locked up in a crate for weeks at a time, unable to hear what was going on around her, and confused about what she’d done wrong.
We held Dixie tight and promised her that we would never let her experience that kind of neglect again, and we’ll never give up on her. Dixie will need a compassionate adopter who understands her special needs and loves her as much as we do.
