Sick pitbull puppy with parvovirus

Last month, our friends at a local animal control agency called us about 11 puppies that were dumped on a property. Unfortunately, the majority of the puppies tested positive for parvovirus, a deadly illness that can be lethal if not treated immediately.

Treating parvovirus requires a large amount of care and, in a hospital setting, treatment can cost over $1,000 per puppy. Because the animal control agency lacked these resources, we stepped in to give the puppies a second chance.

The puppies were transported to the Atlanta Humane Society, where they were immediately quarantined and examined by our expert Shelter Medicine team. Our staff provided round-the-clock care while the puppies battled the illness and received fluids, antibiotics, pain medication, and more.

And now, we are overjoyed to share that almost all of the puppies have been adopted. All 11 puppies had severe cases, and 3 of them sadly succumbed to the deadly virus, but because of you, the other 8 puppies are now thriving! Your support truly saw them through the darkest days, and we are so deeply grateful for that.
