New Foster Orientation

Sunday, January 7 from 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Foster caregivers provide temporary care for cats, dogs, kittens and puppies in their own homes. Some of the animals in need of fostering are too young to be adopted or sick or fearful and need some TLC before adoption. Because of COVID-19, we are also in need of fosters who can provide in-home care for animals who are up for adoption while also helping to facilitate socially-distanced meet and greets with potential adopters.

We are urgently seeking fosters who can and are willing to facilitate socially-distanced meet and greets with potential adopters for their foster animal. These fosters will enable us to take in more animals in need and directly impact our collective ability to find more animals homes.

I’m in! How do I sign up?

If you’re interested in becoming a foster caregiver at the Atlanta Humane Society, your first step is signing up for a new foster orientation session! During this orientation, we will talk about what to expect when you are a foster and provide you with all the information you need to be a successful advocate for the animals through fostering. After the orientation, we will set up a virtual home check with you as required by the Department of Agriculture.

Once you’re formally a foster caregiver for the Atlanta Humane Society, you’ll receive emails once or twice a week listing the animals who are currently in need of fostering, why they need foster, and information about them. You then are able to choose which animal you’d like to foster.

The Atlanta Humane Society will provide you with everything you need to foster the animal you’ve chosen including food, toys, and medical support.
