As soon as he entered our care, we knew something wasn’t right with little Toby. One of his front legs caught the attention of our Shelter Medicine Team, and they soon realized why this little guy was having trouble walking.
They carefully examined him and realized that this tiny puppy had a severe fracture along the growth plate in his front right leg. Although we weren’t sure what caused this injury, we knew it needed immediate attention so that sweet Toby would be able to romp and play like a puppy should.
X-rays revealed that Toby would need to be put into a cast immediately to correct the deformity in his leg caused by the fracture, and he would need weeks of loving foster care to heal.
Our expert Veterinarians carefully wrapped little Toby’s fragile leg so that he would have the best possible chance at growing big and strong. He whimpered in pain, but our Shelter Medicine Team held him close and told him it was all going to be okay.
We are truly grateful that Toby ended up at the Atlanta Humane Society because, without appropriate care, his life could have turned out very differently. Thanks to your support, we were able to provide Toby with the immediate care he needed to grow and thrive.
