When Sweetie first arrived at the Atlanta Humane Society, she was nervous. Her owner was surrendering her because of their own health issues that made it difficult to give Sweetie the care that she needed.
Although it was clear to our Shelter Medicine Team that Sweetie was suffering from skin and allergy issues, those were minor compared to what they found next.
The two dark objects you see on the X-ray above are bladder stones. Bladder stones — especially large ones like Sweetie had — can cause pain, loss of appetite, vomiting, and problems urinating.
Our Shelter Medicine Team surgically removed Sweetie’s bladder stones and began treating her skin allergies. Then, Sweetie was transferred to a quiet and loving foster home to heal.
