We weren’t sure of Sugar’s future when she first came to us. Neither of her hind legs worked properly, and she couldn’t walk. It looked like sweet Sugar had been hit by a car. She was terrified.
We looked at the x-rays, and it was bad. It looked like we’d have to amputate both of her legs. We decided to do a less invasive procedure on one of her legs to better see what was going on, and when we were performing the surgery, we found that her other leg was much more stable than we expected it to be.
We were able to repair her legs without removing them, and we placed Sugar in a loving foster home to heal.
Every day, Sugar got stronger. She went going through physical therapy and received regular checkups with our shelter medicine team.
