As an 8-month-old Great Dane puppy, Smokey should be energetic and playful, but instead, every step causes him immense pain.

Tragically Smokey was hit by a car, and his injuries weren’t treated right away, which caused further complications and severe muscle atrophy in his back legs.

He was transferred to the Atlanta Humane Society from another shelter that didn’t have the resources to provide Smokey the level of care he needed. After several examinations and consultations, we now know that Smokey will need a special orthopedic surgery to correct the damage done to his pelvis and hip joint.

Smokey has happily been adopted by his amazing foster family, who will continue to care for him during his journey to recovery.

Animals just like Smokey need your support, and right now your donation will be doubled thanks to Charles and Virginia Bagley who created a designated fund at the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta to benefit the Atlanta Humane Society in perpetuity.

Your donation will help us care for this precious dog, and animals just like him who need our help.
