As the new year begins, I am once again filled with hope for homeless and hurting pets throughout the metro Atlanta area. Why?

The reason is quite simple: friends like you.

I am so thankful to have you in our Supporter Family! Your generosity makes it possible for the Atlanta Humane Society to rescue, protect and find forever homes for deserving dogs and cats, like Natasha and Stravinsky.

Stravinsky, a tiny 3-month-old kitten, came to AHS from an overcrowded rural shelter. When we examined him, our Shelter Medicine Team discovered he had a severe heart murmur. Stravinsky was placed in a loving foster home for the special attention he needed. We helped provide him an echocardiogram and the extended care he needed to thrive.

Then there’s Natasha, a 3-year-old hound mix, who came to AHS from an inhumane hoarding situation. She lived her life tied outside on a chain with no shelter from the heat or cold.

Her ears were covered in fly bites from constant exposure, and she had heartworm disease from a lack of basic medical care. Natasha was treated for heartworm, and given the care and love she had so longed for by our staff and volunteers until she was adopted into a wonderful, loving home to spend the rest of her life.

Thanks to the generosity of friends like you, last year we provided 63,500 points of care for animals like Stravinsky and Natasha. These points of care included:

  • Placing more than 11,000 pets in forever homes
  • Spaying or neutering more than 12,300 pets to prevent overpopulation
  • Sheltering 10,450 animals until they found loving families
  • Providing 28,400 medical services for sick or injured dogs and cats
  • And so much more!

But our job is far from over. Thousands of Atlanta’s animals still need us right now. Some have been abandoned, abused, neglected or found wandering the streets. Others can no longer be kept by their owners.

As a no-kill organization, the Atlanta Humane Society cares for animals as long as it takes to find their forever family. It’s a lot of work, and it can be taxing on our resources, but the animals entrusted into our care deserve it.

Your donation will demonstrate your ongoing commitment to our four-legged friends who are counting on human kindness for their very survival.

Please make your gift of any amount today, and help make this a year of hope for needy animals who want nothing more than to love and be loved in return.

Thank you helping make the world a better place for dogs and cats who so greatly enrich our lives.

With sincere gratitude,

Cal Morgan, President and CEO

P.S. Pets like Stravinsky and Natasha are counting on you, so please don’t delay. Show your support today to help us care for all the animals who need us in the coming year. Thank you!
