We don’t know what caused Pixie’s eye to swell up, but she was so injured, her eye was all but completely swollen shut. It was painful, and you could tell this sweet girl just didn’t feel good. She would lazy around in her crate and would slowly roll over for comforting belly rubs when you passed by her.

Our transport team pulled Pixie from a local animal control facility so she could receive the specialized medical care she needed at AHS. When our veterinarians examined her, they knew the only way she would feel better would be if we removed her eye.

They performed the delicate surgery and Pixie rested in a foster home while she healed.

And, just a week and a half later, Pixie was adopted. You can make more second chances like Pixie’s happen right now.
