On a small volcanic island floating in the middle of the Eastern Caribbean sea, a modest team strives to provide quality care for all stray and relinquished animals in its care, making every effort to provide a safe, comfortable, and stress-free environment.

Montserrat Animal Protection Society (MAPS) was formed in 2001 to look after lost, abandoned and mistreated animals after multiple natural disasters struck this small Caribbean island. Following the devastation of Hurricane Hugo, the island experienced decades of volcanic eruptions in the Sourfriere Hills.

Today, a modest team strives to provide quality care for all stray and relinquished animals in its care as well as operating a feline trap-neuter-return program. Through the work of MAPS, dogs like Rocky and Ginger go from abandoned to adoption ready.

MAPS and the Atlanta Humane Society are continuing their partnership in helping to enhance small animal care, expand spay and neuter programs, and find homes for dogs and cats in the United States when local adoption and foster placement options have been exhausted.

Your generous support brings so much to Montserrat. From critical veterinary medical supplies to cat and dog food, from animal population management to educational outreach in schools.

Please consider donating to MAPS through Atlanta Humane Society by sponsoring a dog or cat or helping to bring an animal to the United States for adoption. Mark your donation as “In Honor of MAPS” or click the DONATE link to take you to the MAPS donation page.
