Lucy was born with a rare deformity called pectus excavatum, which means her rib cage is much too small for her tiny body’s organs. Her lungs are unable to fully expand, and if not corrected quickly, the condition is 100% fatal.
We rushed little Lucy into surgery first thing in the morning. Little Lucy weighs less than a pound, and her size made this surgery risky. Your continued support enables us to provide urgent care for animals like Lucy and provide them every chance possible at survival.
Unfortunately, while Lucy made it through her surgery, her heart stopped shortly after she was taken off the operating table, and she was unable to be revived. We are devastated.
It’s incredibly difficult for our staff, volunteers, and foster parents who poured so much love into Lucy during her short life.
We are truly grateful for the support you showed for Lucy when she needed this emergency surgery. It’s because of your that we’re able to give animals like her a chance.
Thank you ♥️
