If a kitten needs to be cleaned up, wash only certain parts of their little body with a washcloth, never submerge kittens in water. Use comfortably warm water, not too hot and not cold. The most important part is that kittens need to stay warm, because they cannot regulate their body temperatures appropriately. Only spot clean when cleaning up a kitten so that the kitten never gets completely wet.

To dry the kittens, gently towel dry first, and then back comb any wet fur with a clean toothbrush! A toothbrush helps aerate the fur for a quicker dry, and a toothbrush is a great way to calm the kitten as it closely resembles the feeling of moms tongue!

Kittens won’t begin to really attempt to clean themselves until weaning age (about 4 weeks), so they will need to be cleaned up after meals and making messes until they are able to lick themselves fully clean!
