Holly was abandoned at a local veterinary office with abrasions all over her body and severely broken leg.
She was taken to DeKalb County Animal Services where she received x-rays and hoped that her family would come back for her.
When they didn’t, the kind folks at DCAS made the decision to amputate Holly’s leg to relieve the severe pain she was in.
Holly was then transferred into our care at the Atlanta Humane Society. During her intake exam, we found that she also had a severe case of pneumonia, so we placed her in a loving foster home where she could heal from her wounds, her illness, and her recent surgery.
Between the wounds, the leg amputation, and the pneumonia, Holly suffered. But you could tell in her face that it was the abandonment that hurt her most.
Holly kept looking at the door, waiting for her family to return.
