When Glizzy’s mom learned she needed to be hospitalized for up to 60 days, she faced an impossible choice. Get the medical care she desperately needed. Or stay home because she had no one to care for her dog.
Glizzy’s mom put her own health on hold because she couldn’t bear the thought of leaving Glizzy behind without knowing she would be safe.
That’s where our Pets in Crisis Support Program stepped in.
When she had nowhere else to turn, this program provided a safe place for Glizzy so she could focus on her health and recovery. It was a lifeline during one of the hardest moments of her life.

For three months, Glizzy was cared for in a temporary foster home. She was healing. And Glizzy was safe, warm, and loved. Even after Glizzy’s mom was transferred to an out-of-state facility, she had peace of mind knowing Glizzy could continue receiving everything she needed until they were ready to be together again.
After three months in a temporary foster home, Glizzy’s mom was ready to welcome her home. But she also needed to stay in California for care. We were able to arrange transport for Glizzy to make it out west and be reunited with her mom. Their reunion was filled with relief, comfort, and lots of love after months apart.
Stories like Glizzy’s are a reminder of why this work matters so deeply.
No one should have to choose between their own health and the animal they love like family.
But right now, more pet parents across our community are facing heartbreaking uncertainty and impossible decisions. Your support can be the reason someone gets help without losing the companion who means everything to them.
