Meet Fiji, a total sweetheart who thrives on human interaction!

This 3-year-old girl is a total affection hound and adores meeting new people, including kids. Got a soft lap and blanket? She’ll nestle in and show you what an amazing cuddler she is.

Fiji is really smart and eager to please, which should make training easy! She’s already house and crate trained, and she learned to sit quickly, but she would love to learn more! Currently, she’s working on not jumping up on people when she’s excited to meet them, but she’s been making great strides. She would love to find a patient owner who can help her with her manners.

When she’s not snuggling with her humans and getting petted, Fiji enjoys decimating squeaky toys and playing with toy balls. But for right now, she’s on exercise restriction because of her heartworm disease. After just a couple rounds of treatment, she’ll be ready to play with you!

If you’re interested in adopting Fiji, click below to learn more and fill out a pre-adoption application. She’s currently living in a foster home but once we receive your application, we’ll put you in touch with her foster caregivers to set up a meet and greet.

Our friends at Tito’s Vodka recently took adoptable Joey out on a little adventure! He rolled about in Fetch, popped over to Starbucks for a pup cup, and took a stroll in a park.

On Thursday, February 23, you can help animals, including Joey, during our Day of Giving! Your donation will be doubled to give Atlanta’s animals the medical support, care, and extra love they deserve. Learn more at atlantahumane.org/giving.

teensy video cover

When Teensy came into our care, the outlook was bleak. At 14 years old, she was frail, broken, and suffering from kidney disease.

After running several tests on her, our Shelter Medicine Team determined that the only thing they could do for her was provide pain medication and a warm fospice (foster hospice) home to rest in during her final days.

As a no-kill shelter, we’re there for animals like Teensy when they need us most. And we’re dedicated to giving them the best life possible … even when they’re at the end of their life.

Your donation today ensures that the Atlanta Humane Society can be there for animals like Teensy. Please, make a generous donation in support of Atlanta’s animals and in support of Teensy.

Our Animal Protection Unit responded to a neglect case involving approximately 165 German Shepherds on a property in Metter, Ga. After carefully assessing the scene alongside the Candler County Sheriff’s Department, over 150 dogs ranging in age and health status were found living in extremely neglectful conditions.

The dogs on this property were living in extremely unsanitary conditions and were in desperate need of help.

And it’s only because of donors like you that we’re able to step in when they need us most. When you give right now, your donation will be doubled to help animals like these.

When Joey first arrived at Atlanta Humane, he could barely walk. Physically, Joey had begun to form wounds where his paws would drag over the ground behind him. Mentally, he was visibly depressed by his inability to get around.

Our Shelter Medicine Team immediately began working on a plan of care, including physical therapy, laser therapy, and acupuncture. Joey has also been fitted with a wheelchair that helps him get around more easily.

This type of exemplary care is only made possible by our compassionate donors. And when you give right now, your donation will be doubled to help animals like Joey.

Penny was just 10 days old when the unimaginable happened. The tiny, fragile kitten was tossed into the air and dropped repeatedly by some children.

After an Animal Control Officer intervened and brought her into our care, our Shelter Medicine Team rushed to provide urgent medical care. Penny had to be fitted with a tiny neck brace and placed in an oxygen tank.

No animal deserves to suffer in pain. And when you give right now, your donation will be doubled to help animals like Penny.

Gremlin, a tiny, senior dog, was found as a stray in terrible condition. She was covered in thick, matted fur and had a foul-smelling bandage around one of her front paws. When our Shelter Medicine Team attempted to remove the bandage, they found that the tight mats were cutting off circulation in her paw and causing the tissue to become necrotic. The injury was so severe that amputation was necessary.

No dog deserves to live like this. And when you give right now, your donation will be doubled to help animals like Gremlin.
