Milo’s transformation is nothing short of amazing! Not long ago, he was cold, starving, and alone, unsure if he’d ever feel safe again. But now, his world has completely changed. Milo (who is now called Rudy) has gained weight, grown stronger, and is a happy, playful pup who loves every moment of his new life.

When we first found Milo, he was outside, alone in the rain, starving, and terrified. Thanks to the support of our community, he’s now thriving in a foster home, slowly gaining weight and making new friends.

Though he still has a bit of weight to gain, Milo is on track to receive the care he needs, including his neuter procedure, once he’s healthy enough.

When Dunkin was found tied to a tree in May 2023, he was malnourished and had bite wounds and sores. His circumstances were tough, but once he was rescued, it was clear that he was ready for a fresh start.

Dunkin1

After receiving medical care, Dunkin moved into a foster home where he had the chance to recover and show his personality. His foster family quickly noticed how much he loved squeaky toys, snuggles, and exploring on walks.

Dunkin3

While Dunkin enjoyed his time in foster care, what he really needed was a family to call his own. After months of waiting, in December 2024, he finally found his match. Dunkin is now settling into his new home, where he can enjoy a life filled with care, playtime, and plenty of attention.

Dunkin’s journey shows how much can change when a dog is given time, care, and a second chance. Now, he’s right where he belongs.

All week long, they will be competing for top honors in our Stars in Waiting Awards. But we believe all of these amazing animals are award-worthy companions, so to celebrate them, we’re also waiving their adoption fees through Sunday, January 19th.

Each day, we’ll open voting for a different category on our Instagram account. After you check out their profiles in the daily post, head to our Instagram stories to cast your vote!

🎬 The categories will be:
– Rising Star

The winners will move into their new homes with a special basket of toys, treats, and more. But the biggest win of all is finding the family they’ve been waiting for.

Over 100 doodle-type dogs were trapped in unimaginable filth and neglect, surrounded by trash, mud, and suffering.

When local authorities called for help, our Animal Protection Unit sprang into action.

We worked with several incredible rescue partners to ensure every dog on the property made it to safety. The rescue required a coordinated effort due to the sheer number of animals, and we brought the remaining dogs into our care. But now, these dogs need you.

These dogs have endured suffering most of us can’t imagine. Now, they need urgent medical care, grooming to relieve their pain, and the chance to feel safe for the first time in their lives.

Your donation will provide lifesaving care to these dogs and ensure we can continue to respond to animals in crisis.

Please, don’t wait. They have already waited too long.

Layla is a gentle soul with a lot to teach about the art of patience and unconditional love. Though she’s reserved at first, Layla blossoms when given the time and space to feel secure.

Here are three lessons in patience that Layla’s journey can teach her future family:

1. The Power of a Slow Start

Layla isn’t the type to rush into new relationships. Meeting new people can be a little intimidating for her, so she takes her time to assess the situation and warm up. But once she feels safe, Layla is all heart, showering her trusted humans with love and affection. She reminds us that meaningful connections often take time and that building trust is a process worth savoring.

2. Growth Happens One Step at a Time

When Layla first arrived, she wasn’t comfortable wearing a harness or collar. These everyday items were a source of anxiety for her. But with gentle encouragement and positive reinforcement, she’s made incredible progress. Layla shows that with patience and consistency, even the most daunting challenges can become manageable. Her journey inspires us to celebrate every small step forward.

3. Patience Leads to Reward

Layla’s affectionate nature is her greatest gift, but it’s something she shares only when she feels truly at ease. Her future family will need to give her time to adjust to new surroundings and experiences. In return, they’ll be rewarded with a loving, joyful companion who will brighten their lives every day. Layla proves that the best things in life are worth waiting for.

Layla is looking for a family who understands her need for time and space to feel secure. With the right environment and lots of love, she’ll flourish into the loyal, playful, and affectionate companion she’s meant to be. Are you ready to learn Layla’s lessons in patience and love? She’s ready to share them with you.

Opposum is no ordinary cat. He’s a king in disguise, and he’s looking for his royal home. If you’re ready to treat him like the king he is, read on and see if you’re the right match!

Email Banner Opossum
Royal Request #1: Personal Space, Please

Like any great ruler, Opposum values his personal space. While he’s affectionate and loving, he appreciates some time to himself to recharge. If you’re looking for a cat who will always respect your boundaries, Opposum is your guy. No drama—just a royal with a penchant for independence.

Royal Request #2: Playtime Fit for a King

Opposum may be a big guy, but he’s quick on his feet when it comes to his favorite game: toy chasing. Throw a toy, and you’ll see just how fast and agile this kitty is. Nothing gets Opposum’s attention like a good game.

Royal Request #3: A Little Catnip Goes a Long Way

Opposum has a soft spot for catnip. If you want to see him in his full, regal glory, a catnip session will make him feel like the king of the world. But don’t worry, he won’t overindulge. He’s got the perfect balance of playfulness and relaxation, making him the ideal companion for a laid-back but fun-loving family.

Ready to rule together? Opposum is looking for his forever home, where he’ll be treated like royalty and showered with love.

A fun fact I’m obsessed with:

Socks aren’t just socks. They’re hidden treasures waiting to be claimed. 🧦

The way to win me over is:

A long car ride with the windows down and a game of backyard fetch. Bonus points for snacks.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters during our Giving Tuesday Puppy Power Hours, our Puppy Sleepover was a tail-wagging success!

We turned one of our shelter rooms into the ultimate puppy play zone—complete with a cozy air mattress, heaps of toys, soft beds, and warm blankets. The puppies had the time of their lives, tumbling around, solving puzzle toys, enjoying tasty treats, and soaking up all the love and cuddles.

We walked into the home and the floor was covered in more than an inch of feces. The smell, the filth, and the suffering were unbearable. Now imagine living in it.

This morning, more than 30 dogs were living in this unthinkable neglect. The owners, now facing felony animal cruelty charges, left behind heartbreaking evidence of abuse and suffering.

Each step we take on the property leaves us with another story of unimaginable suffering. These animals have endured pain most of us can’t fathom. But now, with your support, they have a chance at hope.

Your donation today will be 4x matched to help rescue these animals and provide them with critical care.

Please, give them the second chance they deserve.

These two tiny survivors remind us why Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is such a vital part of what we do.

These kittens were rescued from an outdoor colony after one of our TNR Ambassadors noticed they were sick and underweight. They needed immediate medical attention and a safe place to recover while going through treatment for upper respiratory infections.

Thanks to our dedication and the combined teamwork of our Community Outreach, Shelter Medicine, and Foster teams, they are receiving the care they need in a loving foster home until they are ready for adoption.

TNR doesn’t just help control cat populations. It ensures that community cats are healthy and have the chance to thrive, whether in their original environment or in a foster home awaiting their forever family.
