Jeffrey and his five siblings came to the Atlanta Humane Society from an overcrowded rural shelter as newborn kittens. They required an experienced foster parent who could ensure they received all the nourishment and around-the-clock care they needed.
As Jeffrey and his siblings grew bigger and stronger, we began to notice something wasn’t quite right with Jeffrey. He slept more than normal, his movements were slow and deliberate, and he seemed to become exhausted much more quickly than his brothers and sisters.
After coming in for an examination from our Shelter Medicine Team, we discovered our worst fears were true- Jeffrey had a severe heart murmur, which was a grade 5/6.
His condition causes him to tire out easily, and he will need an echocardiogram from a Cardiologist to determine the next steps in his treatment. He will likely need surgery to correct his heart condition, which will be costly and require a lengthy recovery.
In the meantime, Jeffrey is currently living in a loving AHS foster home and is available for adoption.
