Late yesterday evening, our friends at Fulton County Animal Services received a call from the fire department stating that at least 50 dogs were living in squalid conditions in a home that had recently caught fire. Their Animal Control Officers rushed to the scene and began carefully extracting all of the terrified dogs from the charred home. The number of animals climbed over 80- all living in horrific hoarding conditions, but each one of them received love and compassion from the FCAS team.

The plea for rescue partners went out this morning. All 80+ dogs had been legally surrendered, but an influx of over 80 animals in such a short time left the Fulton County facility packed and over capacity.

We are proud to have worked with FCAS and other incredible rescue agencies from around the city to ensure that as many of these animals as possible have been pulled to create much-needed space at the Fulton County facility.

There is still much work to be done to alleviate the suffering these animals have endured, but the Atlanta Humane Society is committed to help in any way we can.

When we work together, we can accomplish so much more for homeless animals in and around metro Atlanta, and that includes working with all of you- our friends, our donors, our volunteers, our staff, and our supporters. Thank you!
