If you’ve ever burned your feet on hot concrete or felt your mouth go dry the moment you step outside into the heat, you can understand why summer is such a dangerous season for homeless and forgotten animals in the metro Atlanta area.

During these brutal months, the Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) is faced with animals who suffer from dehydration and heatstroke. Mothers are desperately trying to care for their litters of kittens and puppies who were born during the annual spring “baby boom.” This, in turn, leads to an increase in competition for food and water when these vital resources are already in short supply.

At the same time, support drops because many of our loyal friends are traveling or busy with their families.

The strain this causes threatens our ability to care for so many vulnerable animals during the dangerous summer months — a time when our services are most critical!

For these reasons, the Atlanta Humane Society has launched our URGENT Summer Fund Drive. Can we count on your support to help more suffering animals in our community?

I hope you’ll make your next gift today

I hope you’ll make your next gift today, to ensure that thousands of dogs and cats receive lifesaving care. Your generosity helps us provide care for each one of them until they’re adopted into forever homes.

Last year, we saved the lives of more than 10,000 dogs and cats. Your compassion made this possible.Urgent Summer Fund Drive

But this summer, I anticipate that even more animals will come through our doors. They’ll need immediate . . .

  • Food and safe shelter
  • Vaccinations and medical treatment for illnesses and injuries
  • Spay and neuter operations
  • New, loving families through adoption

That’s why your ongoing generosity is critical. Homeless dogs and cats in our community can’t ask for help — so we’re asking for them. Please save lives this summer by making your generous gift today. Thank you!
