Gecko and his siblings were tossed from a moving vehicle, discarded as if they were trash. Gecko was then hit by a car, and our good friends at Coco’s Cupboard Animal Rescue contacted the Atlanta Humane Society requesting assistance.
When he arrived at the Atlanta Humane Society, our Shelter Medicine Team rushed to his side- he could not walk and was screaming in pain.
X-Rays showed two severe breaks: one in his right tibia and the other in his left fibula. Both of this sweet puppy’s legs were broken.
Our Shelter Medicine Team worked diligently to take care of Gecko and provide him the best possible care. We gave him a soft bed, some medicine to dull the pain, and began working to heal his legs.
Our Foster Coordinator immediately began searching for the perfect foster home for little Gecko. He will need several months of recovery, care, and love.
His splints need to be changed every 5 days, and he needs further X-rays, pain medication, and specialized care.
