DESCRIPTION:Join Atlanta Humane Society for our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Workshop on Saturday\, July 20th 9am-2pm. This workshop will consist of two sessions and lunch will be provided between sessions. \nThe event is free but we ask that you pre-register here. \nSession 1 – Paws-on Practice: Basic TNR Techniques & Strategies \nWe will spend the morning focusing on the how-to of TNR from start to finish including how to prepare and execute trapping projects\, community cat medical care provided at AHS\, post-operative recovery\, and colony care. \nThis session will involve participation in hands-on learning stations in and around the AHS Atlanta Animal Center campus. Because this session will take place both indoors and outdoors\, please wear closed-toe shoes and dress appropriately for the July heat! \nSession 2 – Perspectives: Navigating the Fuzzy Issues around Community Cats \nJoin our roundtable discussion as we explore the gray areas\, controversies\, and community dilemmas surrounding community cats and TNR. We will dive into a cat-alog of issues\, obstacles\, experiences\, and insights surrounding community cat care\, TNR practices\, and colony management. \nThis session will be guided by attendee-submitted questions\, so please submit your questions and situations on the registration form!

DESCRIPTION:Foster caregivers provide temporary care for shelter cats\, dogs\, kittens and puppies in their own homes. While we need fosters of all kinds\, we are urgently seeking fosters who can and are willing to facilitate meet and greets with potential adopters for their foster animal. These fosters will enable us to take in more animals in need and directly impact our collective ability to find more animals homes. \nI’m in! How do I sign up? \nIf you’re interested in becoming a foster caregiver at the Atlanta Humane Society\, your first step is this New Foster Orientation! During this orientation\, we will talk about what to expect when you are a foster and provide you with all the information you need to be a successful advocate for the animals through fostering. After the orientation\, we will set up a virtual home check with you as required by the Department of Agriculture. \nOnce you’re formally a foster caregiver for the Atlanta Humane Society\, you’ll receive access to our Foster Board that is updated daily to show you the animals currently in available for foster. You then are able to choose which animal you’d like to foster. \nThe Atlanta Humane Society will provide you with everything you need to foster the animal you’ve chosen including food\, toys\, and medical support. \nClick here to register for the virtual foster orientation.

These fosters will enable us to take in more animals in need and directly impact our collective ability to find more animals homes. \nI’m in! How do I sign up? \nIf you’re interested in becoming a foster caregiver at the Atlanta Humane Society\, your first step is this New Foster Orientation! During this orientation\, we will talk about what to expect when you are a foster and provide you with all the information you need to be a successful advocate for the animals through fostering. After the orientation\, we will set up a virtual home check with you as required by the Department of Agriculture. \nOnce you’re formally a foster caregiver for the Atlanta Humane Society\, you’ll receive access to our Foster Board that is updated daily to show you the animals currently in available for foster. DESCRIPTION:Atlanta Humane’s new Pets in Crisis Support (PICS) Program provides temporary foster housing to pets of families who are facing crises such as eviction\, hospitalization\, or domestic abuse for up to 90 days so these pets can be reunited with their families. \nJoin us during our Virtual Pets in Crisis Support Program Information Session to learn more about this program\, how you can help\, and sign up to be a foster for a pet in need. \nInterested in becoming a foster for this program?\nA successful Pets in Crisis Support foster enjoys serving as a “link in the chain” between an unfortunate crisis situation and a happy reunion between the pet and their person. The PICS foster understands that they are helping a neighbor in need – albeit one they won’t meet face to face – by providing a temporary safe harbor for that neighbor’s pet. PICS clients are pet parents who are currently experiencing a crisis\, such as housing loss (eviction)\, domestic violence\, or an acute medical need. ​ \nWhy is this program and having fosters who can help so important? \n\nIn 2023\, well over 100\,000 eviction cases were filed in the five Metro Atlanta Counties.​\nNearly 50% of domestic violence survivors delay leaving abusers due to fear for their pets’ safety.​\n71% of women in domestic violence shelters report their abuser threatened\, injured\, or killed a pet.​\n\nOur Pets in Crisis Support Program steps in during these situations so that loving pet owners do not have to permanently surrender their pets to a shelter during a temporary crisis. \nRSVP Now

These fosters will enable us to take in more animals in need and directly impact our collective ability to find more animals homes. \nI’m in! How do I sign up? \nIf you’re interested in becoming a foster caregiver at the Atlanta Humane Society\, your first step is this New Foster Orientation! During this orientation\, we will talk about what to expect when you are a foster and provide you with all the information you need to be a successful advocate for the animals through fostering. After the orientation\, we will set up a virtual home check with you as required by the Department of Agriculture. \nOnce you’re formally a foster caregiver for the Atlanta Humane Society\, you’ll receive access to our Foster Board that is updated daily to show you the animals currently in available for foster. You then are able to choose which animal you’d like to foster. \nThe Atlanta Humane Society will provide you with everything you need to foster the animal you’ve chosen including food\, toys\, and medical support. \nClick here to register for the virtual foster orientation.
