We’d love to have you join our lifesaving transport network! We’re always looking for partners to transport animals in from and for partners to transport animals out to. There is some information regarding our transport program on this page, including guidelines and expectations, and we’d love to find out a little more about your organization! What we Provide our Partners

• One distemper/parvovirus (DHPP) vaccine per canine accepted
• One canine Bordetella (intra-nasal) vaccine per canine accepted, if administered at source shelter upon intake
• One FVRCP vaccine per feline accepted
• Education and resources on best practices
• Opportunities to become a Statewide Partner (if in the state of Georgia)
• Help reducing euthanasia and saving the lives of adoptable animals within your community!

Items Required From our Transport Partners

• If you are a Georgia shelter, we require a current copy of your license from the Georgia Department of Agriculture. If you are a shelter outside of Georgia, we require your state license or 501(c)3.
• A copy of your Transfer Partnership Agreement and the ability to keep our Animal Logistics Department updated with any contact information changes throughout our partnership
• Notification to the Atlanta Humane Society of any disease issues at your facility within the past 12 months
• If you are located out of the state of Georgia, you are also required to provide:
• An Interstate Health Certificate for each animal submitted 10 days prior to the transport
• Proof of rabies vaccine for all animals over 12 weeks of age, including a signed rabies certificate and a rabies tag

For canines being transported in, we also require:

• • Every canine must be considered healthy, friendly, and at least 8 weeks old (unless foster home placement has been previously arranged)
    • We consider symptoms of illness to include: sneezing, coughing, ocular or nasal discharge, lethargy, bloody stool, and hair loss
  • Every canine must be vaccinated against parvovirus and distemper at your intake
  • Every canine who is 6 months and older should be heartworm negative unless arrangements have been made with the Atlanta Humane Society prior to transport
  • Every canine who is 5 months and older should be able to pass either an industry-accepted behavior evaluation or our standard “head-to-tail” behavior evaluation upon intake at the Atlanta Humane Society. If your organization does not perform behavior evaluations, we will provide a personality profile to fill out for your transport candidates prior to the intake appointment. Otherwise, canines 5 months and older will have their behavior evaluation done upon intake at your appointment, and it is possible they will be declined admission. We are happy to provide assistance or training on behavior evaluation if your organization is interested!

For felines being transported in, we also require:

• Every feline must be considered healthy, friendly, or easily handleable, at least 8 weeks old, and at least 2 pounds (unless foster home placement has been previously arranged).
  • We consider symptoms of illness to include: sneezing, coughing, ocular or nasal discharge, lethargy, bloody stool, hair loss, and oral lesion
• We no longer require combo testing for felines at our facility. However, if your organization does a combo test and a feline is a known FIV+ or displays symptoms, the intake of this animal must be cleared with the Animal Logistics Department prior to your appointment.
  • FIV symptoms include, but are not limited to, enlarged lymph nodes, fever, anemia, weight loss/poor appetite, disheveled coat, diarrhea, behavior change, inflammation of the eyes or mouth/gums, hair loss, and abnormally frequent urination.
• Felines must be vaccinated at your intake with FVRCP.

The guidelines above can be changed at any time by Atlanta Humane Society management, but existing partners will be notified immediately if changes are made. Animals who do not meet these requirements may be declined upon intake.
