LOW-COST SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM

Atlanta Humane Society Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Georgia Initiative was co-founded by Atlanta Humane Society and Holland M. Ware Charitable Foundation and is sponsored by the Petco Foundation, The Daniel P. Amos Family Foundation and Georgia Department of Agriculture.

The program began in 2010 to provide low-cost spay and neuter services for cats and dogs as part of our ongoing effort to reduce the number of unwanted animals born in the state of Georgia each year. Since its inception, the Low Cost Spay/Neuter Initiative has expanded exponentially to accommodate approximately 31 counties, enabling us to reach a larger segment of Georgia’s population and make an even greater impact in the communities we serve.

This is the cost of spay/neuter and other services available to pet owners who are currently receiving government assistance. Clients applying for in-need costs of services must:

  • register their own pets and bring them in on their scheduled appointment date (family members, friends, neighbors, etc. may not bring pets in for in-need clients)
  • present a valid, state issued picture ID and proof (with the same name/address) of any of the following: Social Security Income, Medicad/Medicare, Disability Income, or Foodstamp Benefits (EBT card).
Please note that a current rabies vaccination is mandatory for all pets receiving services through the Low Cost Spay/Neuter Initiative. Pet owners are responsible for presenting proof of current rabies during the check-in process (we will not contact your DVM to request this information, nor will we wait until the end of the day for this information). The following are acceptable: Rabies Certificate with DVM signature or medical records confirming administration of rabies vaccine and expiration dates.

Pet owners who do not present sufficient proof of current rabies vaccination will be given the vaccination at the time of surgery at the cost of the pet owner as outlines above. Rabies tags are NOT ADEQUATE proof of current rabies vaccination.
